New Haven, Connecticut – A teenager has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 17-year-old Daily Jackson Jr., a tragic incident believed to be linked to another fatal shooting that occurred back in November.
The 17-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended on Monday and taken to a juvenile facility in Bridgeport. Authorities have indicated that the teen’s name will be revealed once the case is moved to adult court, with the transfer expected to take place on Wednesday.
The arrest follows the killing of Daily Jackson Jr., a student at Riverside Academy, in a drive-by shooting on the night of December 3 as he walked home. Found lying in a driveway near Shelton Avenue, he was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
It has been reported that Jackson was close friends with 16-year-old Uzziah Shell, who was fatally shot on November 22 in the Dixwell section of New Haven. Shell, also a student at Riverside Academy, was hit by gunfire after finishing his classes for the day. Thankfully, despite a passing school bus being struck by bullets, no one was harmed on board.
Authorities have hinted at a possible connection between the two violent incidents but have not disclosed further details. A press conference addressing the matter is scheduled to take place on Wednesday afternoon.
