Teen Charged in Fatal Shooting During Marijuana Deal Gone Wrong

Milwaukee, Wisconsin — A 15-year-old boy faces charges in connection with the shooting deaths of two other 15-year-old boys who were killed during what authorities describe as a failed robbery attempt in a marijuana deal. The incident took place on Saturday night on Milwaukee’s south side.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office charged the teen with two counts of reckless homicide and one count of armed robbery on Friday. The accused’s identity is being withheld due to being in juvenile court. The victims, Alejandro Sanchez and Monroe Weso, succumbed to gunshot wounds near 14th Street and Halsey Avenue.

According to the prosecutors, the 15-year-old had planned to rob the seller during the drug transaction. The scheme involved pretending to pay for $190 worth of marijuana using a phone app and then brandishing a firearm. A scuffle ensued over the weapon between Sanchez and the alleged shooter, leading to Weso intervening and getting shot in the chest. Security footage captured a person in a red hoodie shooting the two boys before fleeing with two others. Weso died at the scene, while Sanchez passed away at Children’s Wisconsin.

Another 15-year-old was previously charged in relation to the case. The accused’s mother identified him in video footage and surveillance photos.

A 13-year-old accomplice, who was in seventh grade, told authorities that the plan was to rob the victims, steal marijuana, and smoke it afterward. Following the robbery and shooting, the group allegedly attempted to conceal evidence by splashing bleach on the accused gunman.

The 13-year-old is currently in juvenile detention, while the 15-year-old suspect remains at large with an arrest warrant issued. During a court hearing, Commissioner Katryna Childs Rhodes deemed the 13-year-old as an imminent danger and denied a release request, insisting on him remaining in custody until the next hearing scheduled for Friday. Another 16-year-old is also apprehended in connection with the case, with pending charges against him.
