Teen Shot at Lynnwood’s Alderwood Mall in Active Shooter Incident, Suspect at Large

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – Lynnwood Police reported a shooting incident at Alderwood Mall resulting in a teenage girl sustaining gunshot wounds on Wednesday. Authorities had issued a “shelter in place” order due to the initial concern of an active shooter, but that order has since been lifted.

The shooting occurred following a confrontation between two groups of teenagers near the food court area. A gun was brandished by one of the teenagers during the altercation, resulting in the unintentional injury of a girl not involved in the altercation. The suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived.

The injured girl was promptly taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police are on the lookout for a Black teenage boy described as having a large afro, wearing a white sweatshirt with black writing. Anyone who may recognize the suspect is urged to contact 911 immediately.

The incident at Alderwood Mall serves as a sobering reminder of the ongoing concerns surrounding public safety and gun violence in the community. The authorities are actively investigating the situation to ensure that the suspect is found and brought to justice.
