Teenage Tragedy: Student Shot in Seattle High School Parking Lot During Lunchtime Sparking Lockdown

Seattle, Washington – A tragic shooting near Garfield High School in the Central District of Seattle has left the community in shock. The Seattle Police Department is investigating the incident that resulted in the death of a teenager.

Authorities reported that a 17-year-old male student was shot in the school’s parking lot during lunchtime. The victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the police, the shooting occurred during an altercation between two individuals, which the victim attempted to intervene in. One of the individuals involved then brandished a gun and fired at the victim, leading to the tragic outcome.

Seattle Public Schools responded swiftly, placing Garfield High School on lockdown following the incident. Nearby Nova and Washington Middle Schools were also placed on shelter-in-place status as a precaution. The Seattle Police, along with the district’s Safety and Security team, secured the area to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The lockdown at Garfield High School lasted for approximately two hours before being lifted at 3:15 p.m. Seattle Public Schools provided information on a reunification site for parents and students affected by the incident.
