FORT WORTH, TX – A Fort Worth man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of his wife, whom he killed and then wrapped in a tarp. The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that a jury found 34-year-old Christopher Robertson guilty of the crime.
The tragic case has left five children motherless, as pointed out by Assistant District Attorney Riley Reynolds during the trial. Jurors heard emotionally charged testimonies about the loss and were tasked with coming to a decision about Robertson’s fate.
Events unfolded on the night of April 19, 2024, when Fort Worth police were called to a residence on Whitman Avenue. The call came after Robertson’s brother, who had been away for some time, returned to find Christopher intoxicated and behaving erratically.
According to authorities, upon his return, Robertson’s brother detected a foul odor coming from the bedroom. Concerned by what he observed, he investigated further and discovered the body of his sister-in-law, 34-year-old Kristlynne Robertson, wrapped in a tarp.
In a decisive move, Robertson’s brother managed to remove Christopher from the home and secure a firearm found on a desk in the defendant’s room. The brother then contacted the police and emergency services for immediate assistance.
When officers arrived, they found Kristlynne’s body in the home’s far south bedroom. Reports indicate she had been shot in the face and was found shirtless. Officers noted that Christopher Robertson was too intoxicated at the time to coherently respond to or understand queries from the authorities.
Through the night into the following morning, investigators secured a search warrant for the residence. Later that day, at 12:41 p.m., Robertson himself called 911 and made an alarming confession, acknowledging the murder of his wife and expressing fear of retribution from her father.
Police who interviewed Robertson after his call indicated that he openly admitted to killing his wife and expressed a desire to go to jail. He also surrendered the weapon he claimed was used in the homicide.
The case has shed light on the severe implications of domestic violence and the impact such tragedies leave on families and communities. Robertson’s sentence reflects the gravity of his actions and the judicial system’s stance on such crimes.
