GLENNVILLE, Ga. — A tragic incident outside of Glennville has left four individuals dead in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide. The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office reported responding to a residence on Baxter Durrence Road on Saturday night around 11:30 p.m. in collaboration with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The victims identified include 51-year-old Veronica Quevedo Torres, 24-year-old Leslie Johana Marrufo Torres, and 18-year-old Edilberto “Eddie” Marin-Torres. Investigators believe that 42-year-old Octavia Chihuahua Castro fatally shot the three before taking his own life. Castro’s relationship with one of the female victims is being explored, as she is thought to be his girlfriend.
Remarkably, three other residents, including a 6-month-old toddler, were found safe at the scene, according to the GBI. This revelation has offered some solace amid the shocking news. The community is grappling with this senseless loss, particularly the school district, which expressed its condolences for Eddie Torres, a promising soccer player who was set to begin his senior year at Tattnall County High School.
In response to the tragedy, the school system released a statement aimed at supporting parents and students during this difficult time. The emotional toll this incident has taken on the community is evident, with authorities urging the public to keep the families of the victims in their thoughts and prayers.
“There is no active threat to the community,” assured the sheriff’s office in a public statement. “The investigation remains ongoing.” All deceased individuals are set to undergo autopsies at the crime lab located in Pooler to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the fatalities.
As the investigation unfolds, local officials are committed to understanding what transpired in the home that fateful night. With many left in shock, the community continues to seek answers and support for those affected.
