Odessa, Texas — A teenage boy is in custody after three members of a family were found dead in what law enforcement officials have described as a deliberate and shocking act of violence. The incident occurred in an upscale apartment complex in Odessa on Tuesday evening, leaving the community reeling.
Jennifer Rodriguez, 39, was discovered alongside her two children, a 13-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son. Emergency responders arrived at the Eighty Seventh Apartments around 5:45 p.m. following reports of gunfire, only to uncover a tragic scene. The attack has raised concerns about youth violence and the accessibility of firearms.
The suspect, whose identity is withheld due to his age, had previously been in a relationship with Rodriguez’s daughter. Authorities revealed that he initially intended to target her at school but changed his plan, opting instead for a visit to the family’s home. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene but was apprehended by police about 40 minutes later, allowing investigators to quickly identify him.
