Tragedy Unfolds: Statesville Police Identify Victims in Larkin Community Shooting Incident

Statesville, North Carolina – The Statesville Police Department has identified the victims involved in a tragic incident in the Larkin community. Nicholas Goolsby, 39, was responsible for the deaths of his wife, 36-year-old Brandi Delia Goolsby, and their roommate, 26-year-old Simone Octavia Williams, before taking his own life.

The incident unfolded on a Friday morning when officers responded to a call reporting a shooting on Bunker Hill Lane. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Williams, who had succumbed to a gunshot wound, on the front porch of the residence.

Witnesses at the scene confirmed that the perpetrator was Nicholas Goolsby. Following the shooting, he retreated to his own residence, leading officers to establish a perimeter around the property. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force were called in to assist in the situation.

Inside the residence, authorities discovered a 10-month-old child on the first floor. The SPD Special Response Team safely retrieved the child, who was later evaluated at a local hospital before being released into the care of family members.

The bodies of Brandi Goolsby and Nicholas Goolsby were found upstairs, indicating a tragic sequence of events. The police confirmed that evidence at the scene suggested Nicholas Goolsby had fatally shot his wife before taking his own life.
