Tragic Road Shooting Claims Life of Royersford Man on Pennsylvania Turnpike

BRECKNOCK TOWNSHIP, PA — Tragedy struck on the Pennsylvania Turnpike as a Royersford man lost his life in a shocking road shooting. The incident unfolded around 1 p.m. on May 31 at mile marker 291.3 in Brecknock Township, located in Lancaster County.

Details surrounding the interaction between the victim, a 40-year-old man from Royersford, and the shooter, a 59-year-old man from North Dinwiddie, Virginia, remain unclear. State police reported that the Virginia man fired shots from a white tractor trailer, striking the Royersford man before fleeing the scene. Despite being rushed to Reading Hospital for treatment, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries on June 3.

A subsequent search led authorities to a shopping complex parking lot in Caernarvon Township, Berks County, where they discovered the white tractor trailer only 13 miles from where the shooting transpired. Tragically, the man was found dead inside the cab, having taken his own life according to state police.

Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the incident and have urged anyone who may have been traveling eastbound on the Turnpike near Reading between 12:45 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. on May 31 to come forward with any relevant information.
