Trans Activist Charged with Assault on West Hollywood Street

West Hollywood, California – A video released by the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station has revealed a violent attack on a Block by Block ambassador in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 15, 2024. One of the attackers, identified as West Hollywood resident and trans activist Annie Jump Vicente, was arrested that night and is facing a felony assault with a deadly weapon charge. The other suspect remains at large, prompting LASD detectives to seek the public’s help in identifying the second person.

At a West Hollywood Regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Annie Jump Vicente tearfully told the City Council that she had been a victim of a violent attack, alleging that she had been sexually assaulted and brutally beaten by a West Hollywood Block by Block Ambassador. However, the video released by LASD tells a different story.

The video shows a Block by Block ambassador walking past Ms. Vicente and the unidentified suspect, seemingly trying to avoid them, before the two individuals engage the ambassador in what LASD describes as an argument. The altercation escalates as Ms. Vicente is seen pushing the ambassador, leading to a physical fight where both suspects jump the ambassador. The ambassador was struck on the head with a flashlight during the altercation, and a dog believed to belong to Ms. Vicente was dragged onto the street in harm’s way.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Inmate Information Center, Vicente was arrested on February 15, 2024, by West Hollywood Sheriff Deputies and booked in connection with the incident. Sources also report that the incident took place near Santa Monica Boulevard and N. Vista Avenue in front of the self-car wash, though full details are still forthcoming.

The release of the video has sparked a new perspective on the incident, leading to scrutiny and questions surrounding the initial allegations made by Ms. Vicente. As the investigation continues, the public is urged to come forward with any information that may help identify and locate the second suspect involved in the attack.
