Venice Canals Assault Survivor Speaks Out from Hospital Bed

Los Angeles, California – A woman recovering from a vicious assault while walking in the Venice Canals area is bravely sharing her terrifying ordeal. Mary Klein is currently in the hospital with severe facial bruising and her jaw wired shut after the brutal attack on April 6.

Recalling the traumatic incident, Klein revealed that she was simply taking her usual evening walk when she was suddenly knocked to the ground by her assailant. “He tried to kill me,” Klein recounted, stating that the man even knocked out her two front teeth during the attack.

Despite losing consciousness almost immediately, Klein managed to make her way home after the assault. Unaware of the severity of her injuries, she went to work the following day, only to realize later the extent of the harm done to her.

Shortly after Klein’s assault, another woman was attacked in the same area. The authorities made an arrest in the case, identifying 29-year-old Anthony Jones as the perpetrator. Police believe both attacks were random, prompting concern from city officials about the safety of residents and visitors in Los Angeles.

In response to the incidents, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Traci Park expressed the community’s frustrations with the lack of safety in the city. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for all individuals, especially in tourist-heavy areas like the Venice Canals.

Despite the traumatic experience, Klein remains determined not to let the attack hinder her daily routine. She expressed her resilience, stating her intent to continue enjoying her walks once she has fully recovered.

To support Klein’s recovery, her family has started an online fundraiser to assist with her medical expenses. As the community rallies around Klein, there is a collective call for greater vigilance and safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
