Violence Erupts in Walsall as Eight Men Sentenced to 118 Years for Armed Attack on Vehicle

WOLVERHAMPTON, England — Eight men received significant prison sentences following a brutal ambush that left multiple victims with severe injuries. The sentences were issued at Wolverhampton Crown Court after the defendants pleaded guilty to serious charges, including conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Amar Shazhad, 37, and Hezar Iyaiz, 20, both received lengthy terms of 17 years each. Mohammed Sajid, 38, and Kamran Moore, 22, were sentenced to 16 years. Shazad Mahmood, 34, and Waheed Ayub, 28, also received 17-year sentences, while Khurum Sajad, 23, was handed a 16-year term. Additionally, Umar Saddique, 29, received a two-year sentence for assisting an offender.

The violent incident occurred on July 31, 2024, around 11:50 p.m. on Reedswood Lane in Walsall. Victims were inside a vehicle when they were deliberately rammed by two other cars, leading to an aggressive assault by a group armed with various weapons, including a firearm. During the attack, shots were fired at close range, resulting in life-threatening injuries for the occupants of the targeted vehicle.

After the assault, the injured individuals managed to drive to Walsall Manor Hospital where they received treatment for gunshot and slash wounds. Their injuries were severe and required multiple surgeries; one victim was placed in an induced coma due to the extent of his trauma.

Authorities were able to track down the suspects through extensive investigation, including the analysis of CCTV footage and tracking mobile phone activity. Detective Inspector Francis Nock, who led the investigation, called the outbreak of violence “shocking” and emphasized the impact of such criminal behavior on the community.

“In total, the men will spend 118 years behind bars,” Nock noted, stressing that this case serves as a warning against the use of weapons in public. “We will not tolerate individuals who resort to such acts of violence,” he said.

Police are still searching for an additional suspect linked to the incident. Amar Khan, 40, also known as Adam Barzini, is currently wanted, and authorities urge the public to assist in locating him. Anyone who sees Khan is advised to call the police immediately rather than approach him.

Detective Inspector Nock reiterated the importance of community involvement in tackling violence. “Your assistance could make a difference in keeping our streets safe,” he added.
