Finney County, Kansas – Law enforcement officials in southwest Kansas are delving into a case involving a violent attack on a woman. The incident transpired in the early hours of Sunday, when officers responded to reports in the western part of Garden City. Upon arrival, they encountered a woman with apparent injuries, alleging involvement in an altercation with 47-year-old Joaquin Enrique Cancio-Morales.
Initial findings suggest that Cancio-Morales and several others were gathered at a party, where an argument unfolded between him and the woman. The situation escalated when they returned to their residence, with Cancio-Morales allegedly resorting to violence by slapping the woman, brandishing a knife, and obstructing their attempts to seek help by threatening them. Subsequently, he viciously struck the woman with a glass bottle before fleeing the scene prior to police intervention.
Emergency services promptly transported the victim to St. Catherine Hospital for necessary medical attention. Following intensive efforts, law enforcement successfully located and apprehended Cancio-Morales without any resistance. At present, he is detained in Finney County Jail awaiting formal charges of Aggravated Battery, multiple counts of Aggravated Assault, several counts of Criminal Threat, and Domestic Battery.
