Violent Dungarvan Man Gets 3.5 Years in Prison for Vicious Attack on Partner

Dungarvan, Ireland – A man from the Childers Estate in Dungarvan has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for a brutal attack on his partner. Adam Konca, 29, appeared before Judge Eugene O’Kelly at Waterford Circuit Court to face the consequences of his violent actions.

The court was informed that on the evening of July 29, 2023, a passerby discovered a woman covered in blood on Youghal Road in Dungarvan. Concerned, the passerby called the GardaĆ, who promptly arrived at the scene. The woman, in a severely weakened state, was quickly transported to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) for immediate medical attention.

According to the victim’s account to the authorities, Konca had brutally punched and kicked her multiple times. When the GardaĆ investigated Konca’s residence, they discovered a significant amount of blood in the kitchen and a trail leading to the bedroom. Konca was found asleep in a drunken stupor, his body smeared with blood but devoid of any injuries.

Despite being ordered to avoid contact with the victim after his arrest, Konca once again assaulted her on August 3, 2023. This time, the victim reported that Konca had struck her on the face, strangled her neck, and verbally abused her. In a statement detailing the impact of the attacks, the woman expressed how she now bears permanent scars and feels entrapped within her own home.

The repeated acts of violence by Konca have left a lasting impact on the victim, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention and support for survivors of domestic abuse. The sentencing serves as a reminder of the consequences of such reprehensible behavior and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
