CAERPHILLY, WALES – A series of violent incidents involving a man named Cyle Williams has left a community shaken and a victim traumatized. Williams, 34, believed he was protecting his ex-partner from individuals he accused of using her home for drug-related activities. However, his actions resulted in two alarming episodes on June 17 and 25.
During the first incident on June 17, Williams launched a brutal attack on his ex-partner’s friend, putting him in a headlock, repeatedly punching him in the face, and kicking him as he struggled to stand. Later that evening, Williams entered his ex-partner’s residence uninvited and forcibly removed everyone from the premises.
The situation escalated on June 24 when Williams returned to his ex-partner’s home and engaged in a physical altercation with another one of her friends. He proceeded to chase the individual down the street and push him into a neighbor’s bins before fleeing the scene while making threats of harm.
As his ex-partner and her friend returned to find Williams had stolen her phone and was sending threatening messages to her contacts, the severity of the situation became clear. The victim of the initial attack described the harrowing experience, stating that the incident had taken a significant toll on his mental health and confidence.
Williams, with a history of criminal offenses including theft, drug-related activities, assault on law enforcement officers, and public disorder, stood trial at Cardiff Crown Court on July 25. Judge Mr. Recorder D Payne condemned Williams’ violent actions as “vicious” and sentenced him to a total of 35 months in prison for causing grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm. Additionally, Williams received a seven-year restraining order as part of his sentence.
In response to the crimes, Williams’ defense barrister urged him to reflect on his actions and strive for a more positive path forward. The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the consequences of unchecked aggression and the importance of addressing underlying issues that may lead to such destructive behavior.
