Violent History: Man Accused of First-Degree Murder in Toronto Homeless Man’s Death had Previous Attempted Murder Charges

Toronto, Ontario – A 31-year-old man with a history of violent criminal charges, including attempted murder and assault with a weapon, has been arrested in connection with the first-degree murder of a homeless man in Toronto.

Toronto Police took Adimabua Chukwuka into custody late Friday afternoon, shortly after the body of 60-year-old Mario Ferreira was discovered near the University of Toronto campus.

According to investigators, video footage reportedly shows Chukwuka viciously attacking Ferreira with debris in what appeared to be a sustained assault on Thursday morning. The victim was found lying on a bench around 5:20 a.m.

Public records from Toronto Police reveal that Chukwuka has been involved in multiple criminal incidents, with charges stemming from 2014 and 2022. In 2014, he faced charges related to several stabbings, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and violating probation.

Further charges were brought against Chukwuka in April 2022 after allegedly brandishing a knife during a robbery and stabbing another individual during a dispute. The charges included possession of a dangerous weapon, assault using a weapon, and robbery involving a weapon.

The resolution of Chukwuka’s previous criminal charges remains undisclosed at this time, leaving questions about his prior legal outcomes.
