Walmart Employee Involved in Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old Man, Injuring 9-Year-Old Girl in Fayetteville

Fayetteville, Georgia – Tragedy struck a Walmart store in Fayetteville, Georgia, as a 19-year-old man lost his life and a 9-year-old girl was injured in a shooting on Friday night.

The Fayetteville Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the entryway of the Walmart on Pavillion Parkway. Upon police arrival, they found Antavius Holton and the young girl with gunshot wounds.

The shooter, identified as Adrian Jelks, also an employee of the store, was reported to be involved in the incident. The victims were swiftly taken to the hospital, where sadly, Holton succumbed to his injuries, while the young girl is said to be in stable condition.

Authorities have ruled out the shooting as an active-shooter situation or a random act. The city’s Public Safety division emphasized this on social media, stating that the suspect fled the scene in a car, which was later located abandoned.

As the investigation continues to unfold, efforts are being made to locate and apprehend Jelks for his involvement in the tragic incident. In the meantime, Sandra Romero-Nunez, also 19, has been arrested on pending warrants related to the crime of murder and aggravated assault, though her specific role in the shooting remains unclear.
