OCALA, FL – A Florida woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her father and the attempted murder of her mother following a family dispute over living arrangements. Christina Anne Adams, 33, received the sentences on Wednesday in Marion County Circuit Court after being found guilty of fatally stabbing her father, Richard Langer, and critically injuring her mother, Sally Langer, in a brutal attack last year.
Judge Timothy McCourt delivered the sentence, emphasizing the gravity of the crimes committed by Adams. The court’s decision will see her serving two consecutive life sentences, underscoring the heinous nature of the act and its impact on the family and community.
The tragic series of events unfolded on Sept. 16, 2022, when deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call regarding a stabbing incident at a residence located on SE 70th Terrace in Ocala. Upon arriving, officers discovered Richard and Sally Langer suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Richard Langer succumbed to his injuries. Before passing, he identified his daughter as the attacker.
In the chaotic aftermath, law enforcement swiftly issued a statewide alert, and a short while later, Adams’ vehicle was stopped. Adams and her wife were apprehended, and investigators began piecing together the circumstances leading to the attack.
During the investigation, Adams’ wife provided an account of her whereabouts, citing no awareness of any confrontation and asserting that they had met after running routine errands. Yet, inconsistencies arose when Adams was questioned, revealing a starkly different narrative that intimated her anger over being asked to vacate her parents’ home.
Adams admitted to detectives that rage fueled her actions, as she armed herself with a large knife and attacked her parents. She believed they were dead before attempting to eliminate any evidence and fleeing the scene. After the attack, she confessed to changing her apparel and going shopping, an admission that further highlighted the cold and calculated nature of her actions.
Chief Assistant State Attorney Walter Forgie expressed relief at achieving a semblance of justice for the victims and their family. The sentencing brings closure to a chapter marked by visceral violence and familial betrayal, ensuring Adams faces accountability for her actions.
This incident casts a spotlight on domestic violence and the severe consequences of unresolved familial disputes, reminding communities and families of the critical need for conflict resolution and early intervention to prevent such tragedies.
