61-year-old Missouri man held up at gunpoint and run over by two thieves

BOLIVAR, MO – A harrowing encounter on a quiet Missouri street ended in tragedy as two young men now face grave charges after a 61-year-old man was robbed and left dying in the roadway.

Authorities have charged Bryson Francka, 23, and Kaidan Lamb, 18, with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and tampering with a vehicle in the death of Lyman Taylor, whose life was cut short last month in Bolivar. Police say Lamb faces an additional charge for allegedly fleeing from the scene after intentionally running over Taylor.

The investigation unfolded after officers were called to a grim scene where Taylor’s body was found lying in the street. Scattered debris, shattered mailboxes, and a trail of blood marked the tumultuous final moments that led to his death.

According to arrest documents, events began when Francka visited Taylor’s residence, disguised by a ski mask and wielding what appeared to be a handgun—a brown airsoft pistol. Witnesses at the scene said Francka demanded Taylor get into a Dodge Caravan parked outside his home, setting a dark sequence of events in motion.

Lamb, who police say had picked up Francka earlier in the evening, told investigators he watched as Francka took Taylor away in the van, then followed in his own vehicle. As Lamb trailed the van, he reportedly saw it lurching along the road, behavior that signaled a violent struggle might be happening inside.

The situation escalated quickly. Lamb told authorities that after losing sight of the van for a brief moment, he crested a hill to find Taylor sprawled across the road. In a shocking admission, Lamb confessed to running over Taylor with his vehicle and then fleeing the area without attempting to help or alert emergency services.

Following the incident, police say Lamb and Francka later reunited. During their meeting, Francka allegedly boasted about what had transpired, describing his actions as “gangster,” according to statements made to investigators.

Detectives were able to connect the suspects to Taylor’s death in part due to identification from a family member who had witnessed Francka at the scene. Investigators pieced together the series of events from physical evidence left behind and statements given in custody.

Francka and Lamb were both taken into custody at the Polk County Jail, where they await further court proceedings. Authorities report Francka is being held on a $500,000 bond, while Lamb’s bond is set at $250,000. Their initial court appearances were slated for Wednesday.

As the investigation continues and the community grapples with the loss, law enforcement officials maintain that the actions of both young men directly resulted in Taylor’s untimely death. The case has sent shockwaves through Bolivar, as residents struggle to understand the motivations behind a crime that has torn apart families and left lingering questions.
