Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting: Demarius Wilson Charged with Evidence Tampering

Plant City, Florida – Demarius Wilson has been taken into custody by the Plant City Police Department in connection with a tragic shooting that resulted in the deaths of his brother, Kemarius, and a 3-year-old child outside a Lakeland apartment complex. The incident took place on March 11 at the Cambridge Cove Apartments, where four individuals, including the young child, were sitting in a Toyota RAV4 after visiting a friend.

During the fateful night, three men in a white 2014 Dodge Challenger blocked the RAV4 as the occupants attempted to leave the complex. Demarius Wilson, his brother Kemarius, and another individual approached the RAV4 with weapons, leading to an exchange of gunshots. Tragically, the 3-year-old child, Jaquez Norton, lost his life during the confrontation, while the other occupants managed to escape the vehicle.

Following the shooting, Demarius Wilson and another suspect, Kevarius Green, reportedly fled the scene in the Dodge Challenger. Kemarius Wilson was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Demarius Wilson was arrested on charges of tampering with evidence for allegedly trying to hide the vehicle following the incident.

Lakeland Police Department Chief Sammy Taylor expressed gratitude to the public for their assistance in the case and commended the Plant City Police Department for their support. Taylor reiterated the department’s commitment to pursuing justice for all individuals involved in the tragic shooting.

Green had previously turned himself in to police and is facing charges of first-degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and attempted first-degree murder in connection with the incident.
