Auckland, New Zealand – The victim of a shooting on Ponsonby Road has been identified as Robert Sidney Horne, while the gunman, Hone Kay-Selwyn, was found dead in a rural property near Taupō. Kay-Selwyn, a member of the Killer Beez gang, was discovered deceased this morning. Police have confirmed that there was no connection between the victim, Horne, and Kay-Selwyn or any organized crime group.
Upon investigation, authorities revealed that a group of men dressed in black, some with their faces concealed, arrived at the rural property where Kay-Selwyn was located. Detective Inspector Chris Barry disclosed that Kay-Selwyn’s body was found by an associate at the Broadlands property as police were en route to speak with him. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently classified as unexplained.
Multiple police vehicles have been stationed at the property near Taupō since early morning, located approximately 7km from the city. Furthermore, a convoy of high-end vehicles carrying numerous individuals arrived at the address around 11am. Following their arrival, some of the occupants were questioned by the police.
Horne, a 33-year-old drainlayer known for his hard work and kind nature, was with a group of people outside a bar on Ponsonby Road at the time of the incident. Barry emphasized that there was no established relationship between Kay-Selwyn, the identified gunman, and the victim or his associates. The police are currently assisting Horne’s family, who are understandably devastated by the tragedy.
In a separate development, a woman claiming to be Kay-Selwyn’s partner expressed remorse over the shooting on social media. She conveyed her condolences to the victim’s family and expressed deep regret for the situation. The woman acknowledged the gravity of the incident and expressed shame over the alleged actions of Kay-Selwyn.
Kay-Selwyn, who had a history of prior court appearances related to assault and bail breaches, was captured in exclusive footage calmly walking away from the crime scene shortly after the shooting. The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the outcome of the previous charges against Kay-Selwyn. Additionally, details about his activities leading up to the shooting are being scrutinized as part of the ongoing inquiry.
