Arrests Made in Violent Attack on Mount Parnitha Volunteers: Five Men Charged

Athens, Greece – Five men were apprehended by the police on Thursday morning for their involvement in a violent attack that took place last month on two volunteers on Mount Parnitha, located north of Athens.

The men, aged 22 and 23, are facing charges that include attempted murder and the formation of a gang in connection to the incident that occurred on May 24. During the attack, four volunteers were camping on Mount Parnitha for clean-up activities when they were approached by seven individuals in two cars. Following initial questioning, the assailants left but later returned, assaulting the volunteers with a sharp object and their fists, resulting in two volunteers sustaining serious injuries that required hospitalization.

The police were able to identify and track down the suspects through extensive video footage obtained from nearby shops. Reports suggest that the suspects alleged they had purchased drugs from the volunteers and resorted to violence upon realizing they had been given a smaller quantity than expected.
