Green Isle, Minn. — Allegations have surfaced in a troubling letter linked to a man accused of shooting multiple politicians, suggesting a conspiracy involving Minnesota’s Governor. In a lengthy and chaotic letter addressed to the FBI, the suspect, Vance Boelter, claimed that Governor Tim Walz had directed him to kill U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar to facilitate a Senate run for the governor. This assertion has raised significant concern among state officials.
The letter, described by sources as disjointed and challenging to comprehend, spans one and a half pages and contains Boelter’s declarations of having received covert military training. It also suggests that Walz purportedly instructed him to target not only Klobuchar but potentially other leaders as well, despite Walz not currently being a candidate for the Senate.
In light of these allegations, Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has stated it cannot delve into specifics due to the active investigation. Nonetheless, spokesman Daniel Borgertpoepping affirmed there is no evidence supporting the claims against Governor Walz, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
The governor’s press secretary, Teddy Tschann, addressed the climate of fear sparked by the recent events, expressing gratitude toward law enforcement for apprehending Boelter. Tschann noted that Minnesotans are deeply affected by the ongoing violence and emphasized the commitment to ensure justice is served promptly.
Senator Klobuchar echoed these sentiments, underscoring the danger posed by Boelter. She expressed profound relief that law enforcement managed to detain him before further harm could occur. Alongside her, there were indications that U.S. Senator Tina Smith was also referenced in Boelter’s troubling correspondence.
Federal prosecutors revealed that the letter was discovered in a vehicle abandoned by Boelter near his residence. Alongside the claims directed at Walz, it allegedly contained Boelter’s admission of being responsible for fatal shootings that resulted in the deaths of state Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, while also injuring Senator John Hoffman and his spouse, Yvette.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of Boelter’s actions and any potential motivations behind them. The investigation remains a priority for law enforcement as they work to ensure the safety of the community and address the serious implications of the violent acts that have sparked fear among Minnesota’s political sphere.
