Assault Investigation Ongoing After East Asheville Man Killed by Violent Attack

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A man in east Asheville, North Carolina, was the victim of a violent assault and has succumbed to his injuries, according to the Asheville Police Department. The victim, identified as 46-year-old Jason Edmonds, was found inside his mobile home along Reddick Road and later pronounced dead at Mission Hospital.

The incident took place on Sunday, October 15, 2023, and was reported to the authorities by an acquaintance of the victim. Lt. Russell Crisp of the Asheville Police Department stated that the police received the call around 10:47 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Edmonds inside the home with severe traumatic injuries. The nature of these injuries is currently being examined by the state medical office. The detectives are in the process of assessing various leads and gathering information to piece together the events leading to the assault.

Neighbors in the area expressed shock and concern, with some acknowledging the generally quiet nature of their community. However, one resident mentioned a prevalent drug presence in the area, which has raised concerns about safety.
