BOSTON, MA – A Charlestown man faced arraignment in a Boston court on Friday for an incident that took place outside a bar in the Seaport District in May. 31-year-old Weston Dorn allegedly punched a man with brass knuckles, causing serious injuries, following a misunderstanding.
According to police, the victim and a friend were at the Omni Hotel on May 17 when they bought a drink for a woman at the bar. Dorn confronted them, leading to an apology from the victim, who offered Dorn a drink in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. The victim later went to Lucky’s Lounge, where Dorn allegedly became physical and was subsequently kicked out. Later on, Dorn reportedly punched the victim outside the bar, causing serious injury.
The incident was captured on surveillance video, showing the impact of the attack and the victim’s subsequent injuries. As a result, the victim underwent surgery at a nearby hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Dorn is facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Following his arraignment, he was released on personal recognizance and ordered to stay away from the victim, as well as both the Omni Hotel and Lucky’s Lounge. Dorn is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 13 for further proceedings.
