Atchison County Suspect Confrontation Leads to Multiple Allegations Against Michema Laurent

Atchison County, Kansas – Law enforcement in Atchison County, Kansas is currently investigating a suspect on multiple allegations following a recent confrontation with the police. The incident occurred in the afternoon of October 31, when officers were called to respond to a disturbance in the 100 Block South 8th Street in Atchison. Police Chief Mike Wilson reported that during the confrontation, a woman identified as 41-year-old Michema Laurent of Atchison, threw a cup of liquid at a police officer’s face.

Not only did Laurent assault the officer by throwing liquid at him, but she also kicked him in the face and chest, while resisting arrest. Subsequent to her arrest, authorities discovered that she was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. As a result, Laurent was taken into custody and transported to the County Jail where she is currently being held on charges of battery of a law enforcement officer, interference with law enforcement, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
