Attack on Electrochem Ghana Facility Condemned by GNCCI: Urgent Call for Justice and Enhanced Security Measures

Accra, Ghana – The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has strongly denounced the violent raid on Electrochem Ghana Limited’s Ada facility. The incident, which occurred on January 9, 2025, involved armed individuals causing extensive damage, theft of products, and injuries to staff members.

In a statement released from Accra by Mr. Stephane Miezan, President of GNCCI, the organization expressed its firm stance against such acts of violence, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of employees and the stability of the business environment in Ghana. The GNCCI reiterated its rejection of violence in all forms, emphasizing that the protection of businesses and workers is a top priority that cannot be compromised.

The GNCCI urged swift and decisive action from the government and law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack, holding them accountable for their actions. Enhancing security measures across the country was also emphasized to safeguard businesses and enable the private sector to flourish in a secure environment.

Stressing its commitment to promoting and protecting the Ghanaian private sector, the GNCCI highlighted the significance of maintaining a climate of peace, stability, and trust for both local and foreign investors. The organization echoed President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for a safe and prosperous business environment in his inaugural address on December 7, 2025.

Furthermore, the GNCCI emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and engagement among all stakeholders to peacefully resolve issues and prevent future incidents of violence. The organization warned that attacks of this nature not only harm individual businesses but also impact investor confidence, disrupt economic activities, and deter potential investments, ultimately jeopardizing Ghana’s reputation as a secure and business-friendly destination.

As the voice of the private sector, the GNCCI reiterated its dedication to advocating for the safety and well-being of businesses in Ghana. Cooperation and collaboration among all parties, including the government and security agencies, were urged to create a safe and conducive environment for businesses to thrive without fear of violence or disruption.
