Houston, Texas – A tragic incident unfolded at a McDonald’s in Houston, Texas as a 46-year-old attorney lost his life while trying to calm down an angry customer. Jeffrey Limmer, an associate at the Lewis Brisbois law firm, was fatally shot on May 4 after intervening in a dispute between a fellow patron and the cashier at the fast-food restaurant.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 57-year-old Anthony Martin Landry, who is currently at large and facing murder charges. The altercation began when Landry demanded a refund and became agitated with the cashier, prompting Limmer to step in and defend the employee.
The situation escalated when the argument spilled into the parking lot, where Limmer allegedly pushed Landry to the ground. In a swift and violent turn of events, Landry retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and fatally shot Limmer before fleeing the scene. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the shooter remains at large, leaving Limmer’s family and friends grappling with the tragic loss.
Limmer, remembered by loved ones as a non-confrontational individual, was known for his compassionate nature and willingness to stand up for others. A graduate of the University of Texas and South Texas College of Law, Limmer was a frequent visitor to the McDonald’s near his home, where he tragically met his untimely end.
According to his sister, Jennifer Thomas, Limmer was the type of person who would always seek to defuse tense situations and protect those in need. Described as a good Samaritan who championed justice and fairness, Limmer’s untimely death has left a void in the lives of those who knew him.
The incident at the McDonald’s in Houston echoes a similar act of violence that unfolded at a Burger King drive-thru in Ohio, where a customer brandished a weapon at a cashier. While the Ohio incident did not result in fatalities, it serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers faced by service industry workers in confrontational situations.
