Bedford Woman Charged with Murder in Double Shooting Case After Admitting to Shooting Parents

Bedford, Massachusetts – A 24-year-old woman, Jessica Cavallaro, is facing charges related to a tragic incident in Bedford that resulted in the death of her parents, according to authorities. Cavallaro was arraigned in Concord District Court on serious charges including murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The Middlesex District Attorney, Marian Ryan, confirmed that Cavallaro was held without bail and ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation following the incident.

The heartbreaking event unfolded when a resident at 11 Washington Street made a 911 call reporting that a young woman had confessed to shooting her parents. Upon further investigation, officers discovered Cavallaro’s 56-year-old mother, Thelma Tatten, deceased at the scene while her father, 56-year-old Mark Cavallaro, was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later passed away. A firearm was recovered at the location as well.

Cavallaro was identified as the suspect and taken into custody without incident. Authorities revealed that she is the “significant other” of a resident at the home where the incident occurred, despite residing at a different address. It remains unclear why Cavallaro’s parents were in the neighborhood at the time.

Community members expressed shock over the tragedy, with many emphasizing the neighborhood’s typically safe and close-knit nature. Police Chief John Fisher warned residents to steer clear of the area due to road closures and heavy police presence. State police detectives are assisting in the ongoing investigation into the heartbreaking event.

Friends and acquaintances of Cavallaro expressed disbelief at the news, describing her as a quiet and sweet individual, making the incident all the more unexpected. Cavallaro is scheduled to appear in court later in August to face the charges brought against her, with the community still reeling from the tragedy.
