Buscemi Assaulted in Manhattan: Police Seek Suspect

New York, NY – Actor Steve Buscemi is recovering after being assaulted in Manhattan last Wednesday. The incident occurred in the Kips Bay neighborhood around noon on May 8, when the 66-year-old was punched in the face while out for a walk.

According to reports, the attack left Buscemi with swelling to his face and left eye, requiring treatment at Bellevue Hospital. His publicist later provided an update on his condition, stating that he is okay and appreciates the well wishes, although saddened by the random act of violence.

A witness working nearby described seeing Buscemi with a woman before witnessing him trip and fall backwards. The witness then saw him quickly get up and run in the opposite direction, but did not see who had perpetrated the attack.

The NYPD confirmed that there have been no arrests in connection with the assault, and the investigation is ongoing. Surveillance footage of a suspect was released, describing the individual as a male with a dark complexion, wearing a dark colored baseball cap, blue t-shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a bookbag.

The police department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the perpetrator. This incident comes just weeks after Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” co-star, Michael Stuhlbarg, was also randomly attacked with a rock in Manhattan. A suspect has been arrested in that case, as reported by People magazine.

The NYPD urges anyone with information on the assault against Buscemi to come forward to help bring the perpetrator to justice. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
