CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Authorities are currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place in northeast Charlotte Tuesday night. The incident occurred at the Cortland Mallard Creek Apartments on Berkeley Hill Drive around 10:30 p.m., according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Based on initial investigations, it has been determined that the shooter was acquainted with the victim, and as a result, no suspects are being pursued at this time. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and it is uncertain whether the shooter will face charges.
In the wake of the tragic event, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation. CMPD Major Michael Ford stressed the importance of community cooperation, stating, “If we have first-hand knowledge of what happened or if someone witnessed or heard something, saw something, a neighbor heard something, we absolutely want to know that information because it could help with our investigation.”
