Estepona, a picturesque town in the Andalusian region of Spain, was recently the scene of a major police operation that led to the dismantling of a criminal gang accused of a violent home invasion. The National Police apprehended 11 individuals involved in the robbery of a rival group’s residence, with arrests made in various locations across Spain, including Malaga, Madrid, and Barcelona. Following their arrest, nine suspects were remanded in custody on charges ranging from illegal detention to drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization.
At the center of this criminal organization was an alleged leader with an international arrest warrant issued by Serbia, where he had fled in 2021 to evade authorities. The investigation into the gang’s activities began in January when five Serbian citizens were found with serious injuries in a Malaga hospital. These individuals had been victims of a violent raid on their home, during which they were assaulted, bound, and threatened by armed intruders.
