Man Shot Three Times in Clinton: Suspect in Custody and Facing Multiple Charges

CLINTON, Utah – Authorities reported a shooting incident that left a man hospitalized after being shot three times with a handgun on Sunday afternoon. The suspect, Toby Anthony Rodriguez, 34, was arrested and booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of various charges, including murder and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Responding to a call about a man with gunshot wounds near 1090 N. 750 West, Clinton police officers arrived at the scene around 4:45 p.m. The victim was found at a neighbor’s residence with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and ear, while Rodriguez was apprehended outside the house holding a shotgun.

Upon taking Rodriguez into custody without incident, authorities discovered drug paraphernalia in his possession. During an interview at the police department, Rodriguez confessed to consuming a significant amount of marijuana and alcohol before the incident. He admitted to shooting the victim multiple times with a handgun and acknowledged owning various weapons, including a long rifle and a shotgun.

Following surgery, the victim recounted being shot at by Rodriguez multiple times and expressed concern for the safety of his family after the suspect made threatening statements. Rodriguez’s actions have raised alarms in the community, prompting a swift response from law enforcement to ensure the safety of residents in the area.
