Identified and Euthanized: Dogs in Violent Attack on 11-Year-Old Put Down

CLINTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – The Clinton Police Department announced the identification and euthanization of the dogs involved in the violent attack on an 11-year-old boy on Wednesday. The CPD is actively seeking the owners of the dogs and is urging anyone with information to come forward. The department stated that they are committed to addressing and resolving animal control issues within the city to ensure the safety and well-being of community members.

The incident occurred when a neighbor pulled into her driveway on Livingston Street in Clinton and spotted a pack of four dogs mauling the young boy at his bus stop. The neighbor intervened and called the authorities, leading to the boy being treated for serious injuries by Clinton police officers until EMS arrived. He was then airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Commander Crystal Roberts of the Clinton Police Department reported that the young boy sustained extensive injuries and underwent surgery. The family expressed gratitude for the quick response of the neighbor and the first responders, as well as the swift actions taken by the officers on the scene.

Police Chief Sonny Ledda visited the family and provided updates on the boy’s condition, stating that he is facing a long road to recovery and will require physical and occupational therapy, particularly for injuries to his left leg. The community expressed relief that the situation did not escalate further and praised the efforts of the first responders in providing timely assistance.

In response to the incident, the CPD is urging anyone with information about the owners of the dogs to contact them or Crimestoppers. The department is working diligently to ensure that such incidents are addressed and resolved to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
