Indicted: Arthur Scott Jr. Charged with Aggravated Murder, Burglary, Kidnapping, Rape, and Strangulation in Columbus Hotel Attack

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Arthur Scott Jr. faces a six-count indictment for the alleged aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, rape, and strangulation of 61-year-old Li-Chu Lin at a north Columbus hotel, according to court documents released by the Franklin County grand jury on Monday.

The indictment follows a report to the Columbus Division of Police on April 26 at the Double Ten Hotel, where Lin was discovered deceased with injuries from a “brutal attack.” Subsequent investigations revealed that Scott had been captured on hotel video surveillance walking down the hallway checking for unlocked doors before entering Lin’s room. Lin was later found naked with physical injuries suggesting the occurrence of additional crimes, including rape.

Scott was apprehended near the hotel on Saturday and, while under questioning, admitted to the murder of Lin as well as other undisclosed crimes. The grand jury described Scott as a repeated violent offender, with reference to a criminal case dated May 28, 2020.

In a significant development, Scott was issued a high bond of $2 million when he appeared in municipal court recently. He is slated to make an appearance in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday to face the serious charges leveled against him in the indictment.

The tragic death of Li-Chu Lin highlights the importance of thorough police investigations and the judicial process in seeking justice for victims of violent crimes. The community and legal authorities are keenly following the developments in this case, underscoring the need for swift and fair adjudication in cases of such heinous acts.
