Kidnapping and Assault Suspect Arrested in Chicago: 19-Year-Old Faces Multiple Felony Charges

Chicago, IL—A 19-year-old man is facing multiple felonies after a violent domestic incident on the North Side of the city, where he allegedly assaulted a woman and kidnapped a 1-month-old infant, as reported by Chicago police.

The suspect, Nickolas Watts, was apprehended on April 18, 2025, in the 1000 block of West Glenlake Avenue, approximately 20 minutes after the incident took place. The altercation occurred in the city’s 24th District, where Watts is said to have battered an 18-year-old woman and abducted the infant from the 1900 block of West Granville Avenue.

Authorities revealed that during the incident, Watts also caused harm to the infant. As of now, the condition of both victims remains undisclosed, with no further details provided regarding their injuries.

Watts is currently facing an array of charges, including two counts of aggravated kidnapping—one involving a child under 13 with an intellectual disability—along with charges of aggravated battery to a child under 13 causing great bodily harm, aggravated domestic battery, and child abduction for concealing a child as the father. Additionally, he is charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm and violation of an order of protection.
