Chandigarh, India – A chilling incident in Chandigarh has left a 24-year-old youth, Dalchand, severely injured after being attacked twice by a group of assailants armed with knives, sticks, and even beer bottles. The harrowing ordeal began on March 13 when Dalchand, while helping decorate for Holi festivities, was confronted by a group of men, including Manveer, Rinku, Salender, Nannu, and Bumbaiya, who proceeded to attack him and others present with bricks and sticks. Several individuals, including Nanhi, Nemwati, and Abhishek, sustained serious injuries during the assault.
Despite the initial attack, the violence escalated in the early hours of March 14 when Dalchand was ambushed once more by a larger group comprised of Middha, Rinku, Manveer, Deepak, Salender, Rajiv, Bumbaiya, and unidentified individuals. During this second attack, Rinku reportedly stabbed Dalchand with a knife while Middha smashed a beer bottle over his head, resulting in severe injuries.
Following the second assault, Dalchand managed to seek help from the authorities at the Mauli Jagran police station, where a formal complaint was lodged under various sections of the law. The assailants, who issued death threats and exhibited a disturbing level of violence, remain at large, prompting concerns for the safety of the victims and the community at large.
