IRVING, TEXAS – A tragedy struck the community along West Irving Boulevard when 55-year-old Juana Medina Rodriguez and her 23-year-old daughter, Nayeli Bolanos Medina, were fatally shot in their apartment. The stoop of their home has been transformed into a memorial adorned with flowers and candles in honor of their lives. The incident, which occurred on Friday night just before 9 p.m., has left residents in shock and mourning.

Upon responding to a shooting call at the apartments in the 2000 block of West Irving Boulevard, the Irving Police found Medina Rodriguez dead from gunshot wounds. Authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of 33-year-old Hector Matute, also known as Hector Paguda, on capital murder charges.

The devastating loss has reverberated not only in Texas, but also in El Salvador, where the family hails from. Odalis Coreas, who grew up with Nayeli and Tia Juana, expressed the deep impact of the tragedy on their relatives back in their home country. She, along with others, struggles to comprehend why the mother and daughter became targets of such violence.

Elvis Rivas Medina, the son of Medina Rodriguez, shared that his sister had recently ended a relationship with Matute. As the family grapples with the emotional fallout of the tragedy, their focus has shifted to supporting Medina Rodriguez’s 5-year-old son, who witnessed the murders and is now under the care of Child Protective Services.

In the midst of their grief, the family is also facing the challenge of raising funds to repatriate the bodies of the women to El Salvador. They are urging the community to assist the police in locating Matute, emphasizing the importance of holding him accountable for his actions. Anyone with information on Matute’s whereabouts is urged to contact their local police department.
