IRVING, Texas – The apartment stoop where 55-year-old Juana Medina Rodriguez and her 23-year-old daughter Nayeli Bolanos Medina lived has been transformed into a memorial adorned with flowers and candles. The mother and daughter were tragically shot and killed, leaving the community reeling from the senseless act of violence.
On Friday night, police responded to a shooting at the apartments in the 2000 block of West Irving Boulevard, where they found Medina Rodriguez dead from gunshot wounds. Bolanos Medina was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities are now seeking 33-year-old Hector Matute, also known as Hector Paguda, and have issued a warrant for his arrest on capital murder charges. The community is in shock, struggling to understand why anyone would target the mother and daughter in such a violent manner.
Medina Rodriguez’s son, Elvis Rivas Medina, revealed that Bolanos Medina had recently ended a relationship with Matute, but they are at a loss as to why he would commit such a heinous act. With the family now focusing on caring for Medina Rodriguez’s 5-year-old son, who witnessed the murders and has been placed in CPS custody, they are also working to raise funds to send the women’s bodies back to El Salvador.
Friends and family are urging anyone with information about Matute’s whereabouts to come forward and assist the police in bringing him to justice. The community is devastated by the loss of the two women and is calling for swift action to ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable for his actions.
