Nightclub Shootout in Miami Area Leaves Guard and Gunman Dead, Seven Injured

Doral, Florida – A tragic shootout at a nightclub in the Miami area has left two dead and seven others injured, according to authorities. The incident occurred at the Martini Bar in CityPlace Doral, where an altercation among patrons escalated into violence.

Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department stated that the shooting unfolded when a security guard intervened in the altercation, only to be fatally shot by the gunman. Two Doral police officers who were on duty at the club quickly responded, resulting in one of them fatally shooting the suspect.

During the chaos, a woman, five men, and one of the officers sustained injuries. The injured officer, with prior Army training, managed to apply a tourniquet after being shot in the upper thigh, highlighting the importance of police training in such critical situations.

Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez commended the officers for their swift and decisive actions, emphasizing the significance of their training in ensuring their safety. Additionally, it was noted that a year ago, Miami-Dade police had conducted an active shooter drill at the same club, underscoring the importance of preparedness in such unfortunate events.

Following the shootout, the injured officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and reported to be in stable condition. One victim was transported to Jackson Trauma Center and another to Kendall Regional Trauma Center, both in critical condition, while the remaining four victims were reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities have launched an investigation, with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement endeavoring to determine whose gunfire resulted in the injuries of the six victims. Detective Zabaleta expressed condolences for the loss of the security guard and extended sympathies to his family during this difficult time.
