Manama, Bahrain – A 22-year-old man in Bahrain is facing charges after a violent attack on an elderly couple following a road rage incident. The confrontation escalated when the young man, driving recklessly and flouting traffic regulations, was honked at by the couple’s driver for his dangerous behavior.
Court documents reveal that the incident unfolded on a public road while the couple, aged 57 and 62, were driving. The accused, behind the wheel of his own vehicle, was driving erratically and disregarding traffic laws. The couple’s driver honked to alert him to his unsafe driving.
“We were just trying to reach home safely,” explained the 62-year-old victim. “His erratic driving forced me to honk to get his attention. I never anticipated such a violent reaction from him.”
Upon reaching a traffic light, both vehicles came to a stop. The accused then exited his car and made an offensive gesture towards the couple. In a bid to avoid further confrontation, the couple opted to leave the scene.
Nevertheless, the accused pursued them and stopped their vehicle. Subsequently, all three individuals alighted from their cars, and the accused allegedly assaulted them. He viciously kicked the 57-year-old man, causing him to fall and break his left leg. The 62-year-old man also endured multiple injuries from the attack.
“He approached us in a fit of rage, shouting and kicking,” recounted the 57-year-old victim. “I tumbled to the ground and struggled to stand up. I still experience discomfort and rely on a cane for mobility.”
Following the prosecution’s investigation, the accused admitted to the assault. A medical report verified that the 57-year-old victim sustained a 12% permanent disability as a result of the attack. The injuries incurred by the 62-year-old man were consistent with the violent encounter.
The court has scheduled a hearing for July 8th for the accused to provide his defense and for the court to issue its verdict. This incident serves as a harrowing reminder of the dangers of road rage and the importance of maintaining composure in tense situations on the road.
