Security Guard Killed at CityPlace Doral Bar: Suspect Identified and Shot by Police

CityPlace Doral, located in Doral, Florida, became the scene of a tragic incident resulting in the death of a security guard named George Alejandro Castellanos. The suspect, identified as Jamal Wayne Wood, fatally shot Castellanos at Martini Bar during an altercation early Saturday morning. Following the shooting, Wood was confronted by two Doral Police officers, leading to a shootout that ultimately resulted in Wood’s demise. One of the officers sustained a gunshot wound to the lower extremity but is in stable condition.

In addition to the loss of Castellanos, five bystanders suffered injuries during the chaotic event. The victims were identified as Lester Williams Gonzalez, Frank Miguel Jerez, Yaniris Jerez, Sonia Munoz Torres, and Gerard Patrick Delaney. While one victim was in critical condition, the others were listed as stable.

Castellanos, a father to a 2-year-old girl, was on the brink of graduating from Florida International University. His mother, Jeanina Castellanos, expressed deep sorrow and devastation over the tragic loss of her son.

City of Doral officials, including Police Chief Edwin Lopez and Mayor Christi Fraga, swiftly responded to the incident. Lopez described the event as “an extremely disappointing day in our community,” prompting Mayor Fraga to call for a special meeting to address safety concerns surrounding nightclubs in Doral.

Both CityPlace Doral and the owners of Martini Bar released statements expressing condolences for those affected by the tragedy. They emphasized their commitment to prioritizing the safety of their guests and implementing additional security measures to prevent similar incidents.
