Shooter’s Accomplice Arrested in Deadly Tallahassee Gas Station Incident

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In connection to a fatal shooting incident at a gas station last month, a man has been taken into custody. Derrian Merritt faces charges of murder and conspiracy, according to the Tallahassee Police Department, although he was not the one who pulled the trigger. Merritt allegedly drove the shooter to the Circle K located at the intersection of North Monroe Street and Sharer Road on May 17. The arrest documents state that Merritt had allegedly intended for the shooter to eliminate a man involved in a dispute, but unfortunately, the wrong individual was fatally shot.

The victim, identified as Shannon Washington, was not the intended target of the shooter. However, the arrest report did not reveal the identity of the triggerman or whether they have been apprehended. Merritt is currently being held in jail without bond. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, as authorities work to gather more information and bring justice to those involved in the tragic incident.
