Shooting at Uniontown Bar Leaves One Dead: Suspect Charged with Homicide and Aggravated Assault

Uniontown, Pennsylvania – A tragic incident unfolded in Uniontown Sunday night, resulting in the death of a woman and the injury of another following a shooting at Something Different bar. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Andrew Maurice Howard, has been charged with homicide, aggravated assault, and prohibited possession of a firearm. Howard, currently hospitalized with a gunshot wound, has not yet been arraigned, according to court records.

The Uniontown police responded to a call at Something Different bar on Austin St. around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. The charging documents allege that Howard shot Shaquisa Sims and Jasmine Johnson. Sims, a 32-year-old from Uniontown, succumbed to her injuries at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital approximately an hour after being transported there, confirmed Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker. The coroner ruled Sims’ death as a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.

Witnesses at the scene identified Howard as the shooter, with Johnson sustaining a gunshot wound to her left wrist. Described as Howard’s girlfriend in court records, Johnson is said to have recovered from the injury. Three 9mm shell casings were found by the police at the scene of the crime.

Initially fleeing on foot, Howard later showed up at Uniontown Hospital with a gunshot wound. The circumstances surrounding how Howard obtained the wound remain unclear, as stated by Uniontown police public information officer Tom Kolencik. Along with the more serious charges, Howard also faces misdemeanor charges including simple assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of an instrument of crime.
