PHILADELPHIA — A shooting in North Philadelphia on Saturday night left a man dead while he was inside his car, authorities confirmed. The incident adds to ongoing concerns about gun violence in the city.
The shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m. in the 1500 block of West Boston Street. First responders arrived to find the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, critically injured. He was pronounced dead later that evening at 8:21 p.m. at a local hospital.
According to police, the man was seated in the driver’s seat of a blue vehicle when an unidentified assailant approached and opened fire with a handgun. Inspector DF Pace noted that the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and several shell casings were located at the scene.
The shooter fled the area heading south on West Boston Street and remains at large. Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the case but have yet to identify any motives or suspects.
