Shooting Spree Leaves 13 Injured, 2 Dead in Chicago Weekend Violence

Chicago, Illinois – Over the weekend, a spate of shootings has left at least 13 people injured and two dead in various incidents across the city, according to authorities.

In the West Englewood neighborhood, a 55-year-old man was fatally shot when someone fired shots from a passing vehicle, striking him in the body. Despite being rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries.

Similarly, in the South Loop area, a 34-year-old man was hit by gunfire while driving. Shot in the knee by an assailant from a silver sedan, the victim managed to transport himself to a nearby hospital where he remains in good condition.

Prior to these incidents, another man in the Bronzeville neighborhood fell victim to a robbery and shooting, sustaining two gunshot wounds to the knee during the altercation. Meanwhile, a separate shooting in University Village claimed the life of a 37-year-old man who was shot multiple times by a group of individuals while standing near his vehicle.

Violence further escalated when a man opened fire inside a bar in Washington Park, injuring two men who were rushed to a nearby hospital. While one victim remains in critical condition, a 48-year-old woman also suffered injuries from broken glass, though she is in stable condition at another medical facility.

Last weekend saw even more devastating gun violence with at least 33 individuals shot, seven fatally, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating crime throughout the city. As investigations into these incidents continue, authorities are working to bring those responsible to justice and prevent further harm to the community.
