Shooting Tragedy: Michigan Man Killed by Stray Bullet in Kalamazoo Incident

Kalamazoo, Michigan – A tragic incident unfolded on April 10, 2024, in Kalamazoo’s northside when a man from New Baltimore, Michigan, lost his life to a stray bullet. The victim, identified as Mark Jackson, 53, was staying in an apartment when a bullet pierced through the front door, fatally striking him. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety reported the devastating outcome the following day.

The authorities were alerted to the scene on Interfaith Boulevard near Woodward Avenue after receiving calls about shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers encountered a chaotic situation with a crashed car riddled with bullet holes, shell casings scattered around, and a gathering of onlookers. Jackson was found unresponsive and bleeding from a head injury inside a nearby apartment.

Despite efforts to save him, Jackson succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital. The police revealed that a suspect targeted passengers in a car near Jackson’s apartment, firing shots before fleeing the scene. Tragically, one of the bullets breached the apartment’s front door, leading to Jackson’s untimely death.

Investigators are urging anyone with information related to the shooting or other gun-related incidents to come forward and assist in the ongoing criminal investigation.
