Shooting Tragedy: Pregnant Woman Critical, 10-Year-Old Boy Dead in Edgewater Incident

CHICAGO, IL – A tragic incident unfolded in the Edgewater neighborhood, where a pregnant woman is fighting for her life while a 10-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries in a shooting on Wednesday morning. According to a police source, the victims are believed to be a mother and son, with the woman being eight months pregnant.

Neighbors in the area reported hearing gunshots around 7:45 a.m. in the 5900 block of North Ravenswood Avenue. When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman and child both suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman, in her 30s, was shot in the neck and rushed to Ascension St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, while the boy was taken to the same hospital after being shot in the chest, where he was pronounced dead.
