Stepson Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting in Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A tragic incident unfolded in north Harris County, resulting in the death of 47-year-old Shawn Leonard Williams. The circumstances surrounding his demise point to a fatal dispute with his stepson, 24-year-old Lazarus Richard Williams, who has been charged with murder in connection to the shooting.

According to reports from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the conflict between Shawn and Lazarus escalated in the early hours of the morning on Meadowview Drive. Allegedly fueled by alcohol, the argument turned violent, leading to the stepson fatally shooting his stepfather.

Following the shooting, Lazarus contacted emergency services, confessing to the act. Upon arrival, authorities took him, along with three witnesses – Shawn’s adult son, Lazarus’ mother, and his girlfriend – into custody for questioning. Investigators uncovered underlying tension between the stepson and stepfather, despite sharing a home.

The tragic event unfolded shortly after Shawn and Lazarus returned from a neighbor’s gathering. Reports suggest that a confrontation inside the house turned deadly when both individuals armed themselves – Shawn with an airsoft gun and Lazarus with a real firearm. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, culminating in the fatal shot fired by the stepson.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Lazarus remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities as they conducted their investigation into the shooting. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise when conflicts escalate, underscoring the importance of peaceful resolution in times of strife.
