Spokane, Washington – In Spokane, a teenager was subjected to a brutal attack while on his way to a bus stop, instilling fear and trauma within him. The altercation stemmed from an allegation of theft related to a pair of AirPods.
Emily Gewock, the legal guardian of the teenager, recounted the incident as “heart-wrenching.” She detailed how the teen attempted to walk away after a dispute but was ambushed and violently assaulted.
The teenager’s words to Gewock, “I didn’t know how I was going to tell you I was going to die,” highlighted the severity of the situation. Gewock, a foster mom, stressed the importance of documenting such incidents to ensure they are addressed properly.
Despite reporting the attack to the authorities, Gewock’s child continued to face threats via social media, further exacerbating the already distressing situation. The community even saw signs with malicious allegations, adding to the turmoil.
Spokane Public Schools confirmed adherence to protocol by involving law enforcement, although the perpetrator was not a student at the same school. Following the arrest, online threats persisted, causing concern for Gewock and her son’s well-being.
Gewock is now focused on rebuilding her son’s confidence, acknowledging the challenges ahead. She highlighted the importance of parental awareness, urging parents to stay informed about their children’s whereabouts and activities.
Expressing a mix of anger and empathy towards the attackers, Gewock emphasized the need for difficult conversations and vigilance among parents. As the investigation unfolds, the community awaits answers while grappling with the aftermath of the harrowing incident.
